Board Retreat -- Business Plan Meeting
August 10, 2007
Minutes
Minutes from July 14 approved.
-------------------------
Financial Reports
Reviewed financial reports; discussed 2006/2007budget.
Corporate Documents
Steve called the state of California and we just need to send in a check. For the Articles of Incorporation, Steve will send a letter. Because we cannot use a PO Box number which is our NAPM-DV mailing address, Gerry Bryant’s address will be used.
Membership
Our current membership count is 67. 10 members are new and 5 are dues free. One reason for the lower count could be due to members that are renewing late.
Website
Steve has found two groups that help non-profits—CompuMentor and TechSoup. He is following up with CompuMentor.
Review of 2006/2007 Goals
Reviewed goals of last year to see what we have accomplished.
- Maintain membership: 90% retention
- Increase attendance of membership events: 20%
How did we do?
- Our membership numbers this year are about the same as the numbers last year. We need to measure better to see where we are.
- We did increase attendance at our events over the previous year.
Goals for 2007/2008
Our new goals are:
- Increase membership by 15 members (NEW).
- Have at least 25% attendance of our members (excluding Board members) at our sponsored events.
We discussed having a membership drive. Each of us is responsible for bringing in one new member. We need to publicize the value of membership.
Activities for 2007/2008
- Our main focus continues to be education for our members.
- We will have at least one event each month.
- We successfully held two seminars last year and will continue this effort.
- We successfully re-started hosting Satellite Seminars and will continue.
- We will encourage members to attend Board meetings which will be on the schedule. We will ask those who want to attend to sign up so that we can notify them in case plans change. They can call our phone number and leave their name and number at which they can be reached.
- We will have membership applications and information at all events.
- We will remind members that you earn 1 C.P.M. point (7 CEU points) for Board membership.
- We are looking into promotional items for members; raffles at events and seminars; other ideas to increase interest in membership.
The full schedule Events Calendar is attached to these minutes.

CPSM Discussion
There is an opportunity for participants to be in the Pilot Testing Program (4/1/08-8/31/08) for CPSM which includes discounts on study materials and tests. This is an opportunity for those who do not plan to take the CPSM Bridge Exam. We agreed that we want our organization to participate.
Budget for 2007/2008
This item is tabled until the next Board meeting.
Open Discussion
Supplier Knowledge—each of us will review Silicon Valley’s website and discussion will continue at the next Board meeting.
Board Members—we still have some uncovered Board positions. We will do an email blast to the members that will include our need for webmaster and membership and that Board membership earns 1 C.P.M. point. Gerry will prepare a draft and route through Board for upgrades.
Respectfully submitted,
Gerry Bryant
